Ian's Fifth Week

Here are pictures of Ian’s fifth week! It was a big week, and we have plenty of pictures to share!

The last of our baby meals were brought this week by Phil, Holly, Abraham, Rachel, and Abigail Putnam. It has been a tremendous blessing to have had our meals for the past three weeks completely taken care of by our sweet friends from church!

For sure the highlight of Ian's fifth week was his first trip to Snyder, Beau and Cara's hometown, for the Easter holiday weekend. This was his first trip to Grandpa and Grandnanna's house. We packed everything but the kitchen sink, and off we went on our four-hour journey to Snyder! With me in the backseat to tend to Ian and Beau at the wheel, we anxiously drove wondering what the trip ahead of us would be like. Would Ian scream the whole way? Would he sleep? Would we have to make a cabillion stops along the way to feed him? And the answer... thankfully, he slept... the whole way!!! So our trip started off a success!

Once we were there, my family doted over the newest little member of the family! He was loved by his Grandpa and Grandnanna, his uncles, Chris and Aaron, and aunts, Alanna and Johnnie, and five cousins, Rachel, Lukie, Baby Kate, Tenley, and Baby Miles! All had been here for his birth, so they were anxious to see how he'd changed in a little over four weeks.

On Saturday, my family had their annual Easter reunion at the Fluvanna Community Center. I have a wonderfully huge family, which I love dearly, and I proudly showed off my precious little boy to all of them!!! Ian was the youngest of five new babies, that were present, born into the family since last year.

Ian had his first Easter egg hunt! His mommy hunted Easter eggs at the same family gathering, same place until she was too old to hunt Easter eggs! We've come full circle! His daddy bought him a special onesie to wear for the big hunt which said, "Just Hatched!" with a little chick popping out of an egg!

Also at the family reunion we were given a special baby shower. We were truly blessed by the many gifts, gift cards, and money that was given to us by my loving family! It touched both mine and Beau's heart, and we definitely felt loved!

On Easter Sunday, we attended the church Beau grew up in, Calvary Baptist, where he got to show off his pride and joy to the same people who watched Beau grow from a young boy to a godly man. It was so much fun watching Beau proudly show his little boy off to everybody! Ian and I spent most of the service in the cry room, a first for the both of us! Aunt Alanna and Baby Kate joined us halfway through the service. Ian looked precious in his Easter outfit his Grammy had given him!

Ian's cousin Tenley had her second birthday party Sunday afternoon. We were so glad we got to be there! Ian got to see his Granny at the party! She hadn't seen him since she left our house a week after he was born. We got a picture of the six grandchildren while we were there. Tenley is a doll, and it was so much fun watching her open her gifts! We gave her a Ba-Ba Baby Elmo, which you give a bottle, burp, and get ready for bed. She was very good at giving Elmo a bottle and burping! And I hear she loves her Ba-Ba Baby Elmo!

And with that, our fun weekend was nearing its end! It was time to head back to the Metroplex. We were hopeful Ian would sleep the whole way home much like he did on the way to Snyder. And we were lucky! He slept up until we hit some major traffic outside of Weatherford where he woke up and cried for a few minutes and then went back to sleep. We stopped by Grammy and Papaw's in Weatherford for a quick visit. It was Ian's first time at their house.

Ian got a new toy, a play mat, with the gift cards from the baby shower given by Cara's family. At first, he wasn't too sure he liked it, but now he enjoys playing on it!

On Wednesday, Ian and I had lunch at Anique's house. She cooked a delicious meal, and I really enjoyed our visit! Anique will be keeping Ian when I am working. She is a sweet friend who is in our Sunday School class, and she just so happens to live in our neighborhood! It's so cool how God works things, like childcare, out perfectly! We couldn't ask for a sweeter, kinder, gentler person to watch our baby! She is a godly woman who I know is going to love our baby and come alongside us as we seek to raise him in a godly way.

Ian experienced some firsts this week! He started smiling with some prompting, which I captured on film for the first time! He had his first blowout of poopie from his diaper! Luckily none got on Mommy! He got a new SwaddleMe blanket made out of T-shirt material, which he loves! And Ian helped his daddy hoe weeds for the first time!

And Ian wrapped his fifth week up by celebrating turning five weeks old with a visit from his Grammy and Uncle Cole, Beau's younger brother. Grammy took us all out to eat at Cheddar's where for the first time Ian did not sleep through the whole meal. Luckily he was good, and we were able to finish without a hitch. Ian's Uncle Cole hadn't seen him since his birth, and we enjoyed our visit with him and Grammy!

What a BIG week!!!! It was a fun one!!!! And that sums up Ian's fifth week of his precious, precious little life!!!!
