Thanksgiving in Midland

Every year we also spend the Thanksgiving weekend with my mom's family. So the morning after Thanksgiving Day, we loaded the car up and headed out to Midland to my older brother's house for a great weekend with my brother's family, my mom and DJ, and my grandparents. Aaron, my younger brother, and his family weren't able to make it this year. We missed them and Uncle David and hope they are able to make it next year. Granny and Papa made the long trip from Oklahoma City to be with us, and we're sure glad they did! It's been two years since we've seen them. It's been a long time comin'!

In the past, Thanksgiving weekend has been held at Granny and Papa's in OK City, but we've moved the family tradition of Thanksgiving weekend to my brother's house so Granny doesn't have to work so much! But she's such a GREAT cook, we asked her if it would be too much for her to make her lasagna and enchiladas. She even baked some desserts! She cooked the lasagna and enchiladas ahead, and we ate them all right up! So good!!!

Chris cooked an awesome meal for us Saturday night consisting of his special steaks, twice baked potatoes, green beans, and beer bread. It was soooo good! He worked all day on this meal, and boy was it worth it!

My brother and his wife Alanna are quite the hosts! We had a great time relaxing in their home and catching up on some much-needed family time together. Rachel is growing up so fast. She's taking piano lessons and played for us her Christmas recital songs. Took me back to the days of my early piano playing years! My mom is quite the pianist, and I loved watching Rachel's look of awe in her Granny's piano playing abilities! They even played a duet together! Sweet times!
Rachel has always played hair with me. She gets all the hair stuff she can find, including my clippies, and goes to town on my hair! I've always loved "playing hair" with my oldest niece and now it looks like my youngest niece is interested in "playing hair" too!

Ian could not get enough of Luke this weekend!!! He just loved him!!! Lukie made Ian laugh and just played so well with him! I loved watching them together!

We just had the best time in Midland with my family this year! And if everybody is able to make it next year, there will be two new babies in the family, ours and Aaron and Johnnie's! I love dreamin' about what next year will be like as our little family just keeps on growin'!
